gabrielle dawe

i came across this artist via booooooom and was blown away by the beauty of his work. growing up in mexico, the influence of a culture rich in colour has shaped these pieces. you have to respect the monotonous process in itself, the repetition of layering and aligning string, but the use of colour and the colour combinations dawes has chosen is what ultimately completes the work. an artist needs to consider that the viewer responds personally to colour, as it acts as a reminder for specific events and experiences in their lives. it is capable of altering what is considered to be beautiful. but personally, the combination of orange, red, purple, and yellow, makes me think beauty!
