on friday night i went down to china heights to check out an exhibition of furniture for walk the plank collective. the display was completely beautiful. timber stools, coffee tables, chairs and dining tables were suspended from the beams on the gallery ceiling with rope as if they were wearable pieces. whats also appealing is that there was a huge emphasis placed on sustainable design. every creation was unique and used pieces of recycled timber. some of the timber still had evidence of paint from its past life and other pieces had beautiful, natural holes and imperfections, giving it a real earthen and weathered aura. juxtaposed with the neutral tones of the timber were bright colours. in the instance of a kitchen table, it featured aqua legs, which gave the designs a real fun and playful approach. find out more info on their projects and see more of their work here.
